Today is a new day, a new week, and a new chance to try different things in the Thermomix.
Last week I had a few successes and a few failures with the Thermomix. So it is back to the drawing board and to the the Health Food store for flour. They must love their new customer!
The pasta sauce was a huge success. Very yummy and a surprising colour compared to the store bought ones. We used it to make savoury mince pies for Alpha at church last night (I apologise for no photo- too busy creating). I also made chilli con carne mince and spag bol mince which were both beautiful. I cooked pasta which went ok (I needed to read the instructions a bit better though...) and again the mashed potatoes were divine.
Rosey came for a visit and bought me some farm fresh whole wheat to mill. So I
tried making a multigrain bread and a fruit loaf with 100g of whole wheat. Neither of these loaves worked. The multigrain bread was too moist and didn't cook all the way through, even after a few extra moments in the oven. The fruit loaf was heavy, and also doughy in the middle. To the bin for both of those.
I ran into Leah, my Thermomix consultant and shared my failings. She explained that sometimes you need to 'dump'the ingredients into the Thermomix as a steady trickle does not register on the scales until it's too late. So I am trying this technique.
I did make a second bread and fruit loaf which are much better so it hasn't been all bad. And I find love is a vital ingredient in the kitchen. If it's not made with love it just doesn't seem to work in my kitchen.
This morning I attempted the lemon and poppy seed cake with no success. It sank in the middle and tasted horrible. Not really sure why. It was meant to be a beautiful success for a take a plate morning tea but has also ended up in the bin.
