So, how is it going? Not too bad. I have had a few headaches and few cranky moments. I have eaten a few things with sugar and noticed straight away the difference in how I felt. It is making me very aware of what I am eating and how much sugar is affecting my body. Foods that you wouldn't think have sugar in them actually do, and this is the scariest thing. Even the good old humble potato chip has a layer of sugar on it to get a nice even colour!
I am not going to be super strict but I am going to be much more aware and conscientious in trying to avoid foods with too much sugar. I am definitely going back to having my banana almond smoothie for breakfast but will have to use only 1/2 a banana and no honey. I think if I have made good choices and cut most of the sugar out of my diet then having 1/2 a banana a day is okay- that's my theory anyway.
Fortunately now that I have definitely identified that my body does not like wheat, gluten, rice and other grains, the temptation to eat baked goods is much less which makes giving up sugar easier. I am experimenting with baking with coconut flour but only as a treat. And the amazing Martha Stewart Flourless Chocolate Pecan biscuits, and Cyndi O'Meara's flourless chocolate torte will have to be for very special occasions only!
This is by no means a life of deprivation as you will see in the photos below. Just a more aware way of eating and appreciating food for what it is- just food.

I am intrigued and impressed. I am a total sugar addict and I know I need to cut down, but am not quite ready to do this! But I am keen to see what happens next (as in, after the full sugar fast), do you slowly introduce some sweetness of some kind (i.e. fruit, honey)? Or is the idea that you have a long-term super-low-sugar lifestyle?
