Frist Day of Term Two- tie and trousers!

Wednesday 27th April 2011

Today is Kaleb's first day back at school for term two. This also signifies a change in uniform for the boys who have to wear a tie in Term 2 and 3 and who can wear trousers if they want. We haven't worried about trousers at this stage but Kaleb looked very spiffy in his tie. The only trouble was we couldn't get his top shirt button done up but on arriving at school I learned that this is a common problem and that they can wear their ties with the first button undone. Phew...

Happy 30th Birthday Shelley!

Sunday 24th April 2011

This year I had the joy of sharing my birthday with celebrating Easter. And because this year I reached the 30 year milestone we celebrated with a family lunch at Crazy Galagher's in Toowoomba. Thanks for the oh so yummy Strawberry Torte- I ate far too much of it but it was so yummy and I only turn 30 once.

Kayla enjoying the party- or the chips at least!

Blowing out the candles- thankfully there were not 30 to blow out! I struggled with blowing 3 of them out!

My most favourite cake- The Cheesecake Shop's Strawberry Torte!

Friday 22nd April 2011

We joined with the Tucker family at Tuck and Dale's for the traditional fish and chips Good Friday. It was a great time together and was even more special as everyone was able to be there. Kaleb had a great time in the slightly cold pool and claimed he was never getting out!

Thank you Delora!

Thursday 21st April 2011

My beautiful friend Delora came over for morning tea this morning and blessed me with this most gorgeous painting for my birthday. Delora is a wonderful artist and is most creative in a lot of areas. When she becomes famous I can claim to have one of her earliest and an original painting.

Dinosaur Party

Tuesday 19th April 2011

Kaleb had a party from 10am until midday. There were around 12 kids from his class, plus some siblings and a family from church so it was a fun time.

Kaleb's Birthday- the morning

Tuesday 19th April 2011

Kaleb is 6 today! How crazy. He was born at 10.13pm so has the whole day to wait to officially turn 6 but we won't tell him that. He has been waiting days and days for it to be his birthday.

The Cake

This is Kaleb's Birthday Cake for his dinosaur party. It is just a butter cake cut into the dinosaur shape, iced with butter cream, light green m & m's, dark green m & m's, green smarties, tie tacs for toes and a red smartie for the eye. There are also mint leaves around the spikes (which you can't really see in this photo).

I almost had a disaster when I left it in the oven while I started to preheat the oven for the party. Fortunately I remembered just in time and saved the cake...

Party Preparations

Monday 18th April 2011

Kaleb is turning six tomorrow and we are having a dinosaur party. He invited his whole class from school (which is only 18) plus a few other friends so we are in for a busy morning tomorrow.

This is some of the baking I have been doing for the party-

Iced dinosaur biscuits

Chocolate Slice with dinosaur sprinkles

Chocolate dinosaurs in jelly

Party Loot Bags- all dinosaurs

New Camera

Monday 18th April 2011

The fateful day came today when by beloved camera died. I really love my Fuji Finepix s5600 but it has been playing up for the last couple of weeks, with a serial number error last week and then all this week it has been having numerous focus errors. It can focus when initially turned on but as soon as you take a photo or zoom at all it goes blurey. So, it has been replaced with another Fuji- this time the Finepix s2950. It is beautiful. It would not have been such a dilema and urgent matter if there weren't 2 birthdays and easter this week- I would regret not capturing those special memories.

So goodbye to the old...
And hello to the new...

(As you can probably tell I am a huge fan of FujiFilm FinePix cameras. This is our third one.)
