Since the floods we have been looking to change cars- the Camry- for a 4wd. Yesterday Jas went to Brisbane and bought a 2002 Mitsubishi Triton Dual Cab. He (and the boys) is very excited about his new 'truck'!
Welcome to the life and times of Jason, Shelley, Kaleb, Joel & Bethany. We hope you enjoy keeping up with us as much as we enjoy sharing our memories with you.

First Day of Grade One!
Kaleb had a wonderful first day of grade one.
His teacher's are Mrs Liljegren (Mrs Lil) and Mrs Skerman.
His desk is next to Rhylie.
There are 22 children in his class- all 18 from prep and 4 new students.
Today they unpacked all their school books and put them in the right places in the classroom.
Kaleb tells me that tomorrow they will do a little bit more writing in their books.
And although he looks so smart in his uniform, he wasn't home 2 minutes before the shoes were off, the socks were down and his shirt was untucked!

What a lovely surprise!
Wednesday 19th January 2011
Well, what a lovely surprise to have a visit from Moira, Amanda, Margy & Kym- the staff from Warwick Christian College. It was so nice to sit and catch up while they passed Bethany around and watched Kaleb & Joel play the Wii. Bethany was quite taken by Amanda (though she would tell you it was the lights...) and Moira took some lovely photos (that I will post when I receive them). It was such a blessing to see them all again and to realise that though we we were only part of the school for a semester, we have made friends for life in Warwick.
May God bless and guide you through this coming school year!

We had a quick visit from Brian, Amanda & Isaac, Xena, Jacob, Hayley, Joel & Mason today as they were finally on their way home after their extended holidays. They had been 'stuck' in Longreach unexpectedly due to the flood waters. It was great to see them all- even for the brief moment they stopped in. Bless you guys!

Bethany- 9 weeks old!
Monday 17th January 2011
Bethany celebrated her 9 week milestone this week by getting her needles. She managed to scream the clinic down with each needle but settled down quickly and fell asleep. She has been a bit out of sorts and a bit 'hot' but seems to be ok again today. The weather has decided to get hot all of a sudden too which probably isn't helping.

Bethany is now 2 months old!
Saturday 15th January 2011
I know I keep saying it but the time really is flying and Bethany is now 2 months old. She has really settled in the last couple of weeks and is starting to have more awake time with us. She is particularly fond of Kaleb, smiling and chatting to him. Both the boys are still doting on her- sometimes too much. She does like being at home and the quiet which is a challenge at times- particularly at the moment with school holidays.

Dalby Floods
Monday 10th January- Thursday 13th January 2011
The call to evacuate to friends and relatives if concerned about rising flood waters came at around 11pm Sunday night. The kids and I stayed put in the house but Jas packed and went to the other side of the Myall Creek to be able to meet the needs of work. By Monday morning the flood waters had risen and car access to our street and area was cut.
The kids and I spent most of the day watching the flood waters rise. They reached to our front lawn but not quite to our mail box. Fortunately, although we live on the flat flood plains, our home and most around us are built up a bit from the road. Our neighbours on the other side coped water from both Mont Clair Close and Branch Creek Road.
The waters seemed to peak and receed on Monday and by Tuesday afternoon you could see the bitumen on our end of the street. However the call came that the Creek was rising again and to again evacuate if concerned. By this stage we were well and truely surrounded by water and not really in a position to evacuate. Not that we wanted to as we were all happy here in our own beds and the kids happy with their own things. I was very much at peace about staying in our home.
Fortunately, as fast as it rose the water has fallen and this morning we have flood free streets and the power has been restored after more than 3 days without it.
Considering what has been happenning elsewhere in the area we consider ourselves very fortunate and are very thankful- even for a cold shower.
Thank you all for your prayers, messages, calls and concern. We are very blessed.

Joel & the frog!
Sunday 9th January 2011
The frogs are loving all of this wet weather and we are finding them- big and small- all around our house.
This little one was on the house wall.

Kaleb had cabin fever!
Sunday 9th January 2011
After a day of rain Kaleb had cabin fever big time. We asked him what would make him happy and he said to go and jump on the trampoline. So off he went, in the rain, to jump on the trampoline and splash in the puddles.

Happy Birthday Jas
Dalby Flooding
Christmas was turned into chaos with the flooding in Dalby. We were fortunate that our house did not get water through it, although we are told the water level was up to our front grass and people were fishing in the water. Jas had a stressful couple of days at work and had 2 nights in a motel as he was unable to access our house.
Trials will bring out the best or worst in us and Jas has certainly excelled at work during this trying time. His bosses are most impressed and appreciative of his efforts. So much so he was given a day off work and sent flowers.

Bethany is much more settled at the moment- though being away from home always throws things out a bit- she is smiling which is delightful!
